Senior Cyber Security Analyst

Canberra | 12-Month Contract | 24/7 SOC Environment | Defence Sector

We're seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join a high-performing Security Operations Centre (SOC) supporting a key Defence customer in Canberra.

This is a hands-on, operational role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment - detecting, analysing, and responding to real-world cyber threats.

The Role

As a Senior Analyst, you'll play a key role in protecting critical systems and infrastructure by:

• Monitoring, triaging, and responding to security alerts and incidents
• Leading and supporting incident response activities end-to-end
• Investigating threats including malware, intrusions, and vulnerabilities
• Driving continuous improvement of SOC processes and detection capabilities
• Supporting threat detection through SIEM and other security tooling
• Collaborating with internal teams to strengthen security posture
• Contributing to reporting, documentation, and post-incident reviews

You'll be part of a 24/7 SOC environment, including participation in an on-call roster as required.

What You'll Bring

• NV1 Security Clearance (mandatory)
• 3+ years in a dedicated cyber security / SOC role
• Strong experience across SOC operations and incident response processes
• Hands-on knowledge of malware analysis, detection, and eradication techniques
• Familiarity with current threat landscape, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies
• Experience with SIEM platforms and security monitoring tools
• Understanding of network and cloud security technologies
• Working knowledge of frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, Essential Eight, PSPF, and ISM
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to operate under pressure
