Data Analyst - Workforce & Operations

About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable Data Analyst to support a Defence Client of ours.This role will focus on analysing complex workforce and operational data to provide meaningful insights that drive decision-making across healthcare services.

You will work closely with operational leaders, translating data into clear, actionable recommendations to improve performance, workforce planning, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse large, complex datasets from multiple sources including spreadsheets, rostering systems, appointment systems, and operational databases
• Identify trends, anomalies, bottlenecks, and performance issues across health services
• Provide insights on clinic wait times, appointment utilisation, staffing levels, shift coverage, and workforce demand
• Develop and maintain dashboards in Excel and Power BI to track KPIs
• Produce both recurring and ad hoc reports for senior leadership
• Translate data findings into clear business recommendations
• Analyse staffing across locations, disciplines, and craft groups
• Assess shift demand, overtime, shortages, and utilisation trends
• Support workforce planning and operational decision-making
• Engage with stakeholders to understand business problems and data needs
• Respond to urgent data requests in a fast-paced environment
• Present insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Cleanse and reconcile data from multiple sources
• Improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and governance processes

Essential Skills & Experience

• Advanced Excel skills (critical)
• Strong SQL capability
• Experience with Power BI (dashboarding & visualisation)
• Proven experience in data cleansing and reconciliation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly
• Experience working with workforce, rostering, healthcare, or operational datasets

Desirable

• Experience within Defence or government environments
• Familiarity with rostering systems
• Experience with structured reporting environments
