Data Migration Engineer - SQL / Finance Systems

6 Month Contract | Melbourne or Adelaide | Australian Citizenship Required

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to join a finance systems transformation project on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role focused on the extraction, transformation, cleansing and migration of financial data between systems.

The successful candidate will have strong SQL and database experience, along with a solid understanding of finance data and financial systems. Experience with Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle Financials will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute data migration activities across finance systems.
• Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation and reconciliation.
• Analyse and cleanse large volumes of financial data.
• Perform source-to-target mapping and develop data transformation rules.
• Identify and resolve data quality and migration issues.
• Develop migration scripts and support ETL processes.
• Validate migrated data and reconcile financial records between source and target systems.
• Work closely with Finance, IT, Business Analysts and technical stakeholders.
• Document migration processes, mappings, data rules and validation outcomes.
• Support testing, cutover and post-migration activities.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in data migration or data engineering.
• Strong hands-on SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience extracting, transforming and loading complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation and validation.
• Experience working with financial data, ERP or finance systems.
• Understanding of financial transactions, accounts and reporting structures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience:

• Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP.
• Microsoft Dynamics / Dynamics 365.
• Oracle Financials.
• ETL and data migration tools.
• ERP implementations, upgrades or system transformations.
• Large-scale finance data migration projects.

Essential Requirements:

• Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
• Strong SQL and data migration experience.
• Experience working with finance-related data or systems.
• Ability to work from Melbourne or Adelaide.
