We are seeking a Defence Procurement / Commercial Officer to support the delivery of complex procurement and contract management activities across a high-profile Defence program in Canberra.

This role will see you working closely with technical, engineering, and project teams to manage end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring compliance, value for money, and strong commercial outcomes across a range of Defence-related capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities from sourcing through to contract execution and close-out
• Develop and review tender and contract documentation in line with Commonwealth procurement requirements
• Support negotiation of commercial terms with suppliers and industry partners
• Monitor contract performance, risk, and compliance across assigned packages
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to align procurement outcomes with project delivery needs
• Provide commercial advice and support across procurement strategy and governance

About You

• Experience in procurement, commercial, or contract management roles (ideally within Defence or Government)
• Strong understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs)
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate into commercial solutions
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities

Desirable

• Defence industry experience
• Exposure to complex engineering or technical procurement environments
• NV1 security clearance or ability to obtain
