HSE Manager

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join their team to bring their skills and expertise to an industry leader across a number of facilities across Australia. You will use your stakeholder and communication skills to provide HSE expertise.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the HSE management systems that keep their people safe and our operations compliant. You'll drive a culture of continuous improvement across multiple sites and lead incident investigations, audits, training and legislative compliance.

Key Competencies:

  • Develop, update, and manage the HSE Management Systems
  • Implement the HSE strategy to ensuring it supports the current and future business strategy
  • Manage the implementation of new HSE procedures and practices
  • Mentor, train and develop employees on all Quality and HSE requirements
  • Set up and develop company wide policy
  • Lead delivery of HSE policies, plans, programs and systems that drive continuous safety improvement.
  • Oversee HSE management systems including policy development, procedure implementation and compliance reporting.
  • Develop and implement site-specific HSE Management Plans across Kongsberg Australia locations.
  • Facilitate audits and risk assessment programs across the organisation.
  • Monitor legislative changes and update policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents - identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions stick.
  • Design and deliver HSE training programs that build awareness and capability across the business.

Skills Required

  • 10+ years' experience in a similar role within the defence would be ideal
  • Tertiary HSE qualifications
  • Legislation and regulatory compliance
  • Return to Work experience
  • Internal and external HSE auditing experience
  • Team player with strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible for an NV1 Defence clearance (current clearance will be highly regarded)

The role he's quite complex in its nature. It requires candidates with the maturity and experience to deep dive on all aspects of HSE for legal and compliance requirements. It is a new role for the business, candidates with experience in working within a greenfields environment would be ideal for this role. This role has an ITAR compliance aspect to the role. It is critical that candidates are able to gain a AGSVA clearance if they don't have one already.
