Naval Engineering Contract Roles - Melbourne CBD
We're seeking experienced engineers for initial short-term naval contracts (4-6 months) to support mission-critical naval systems and ships.
For all roles, candidates must hold AGSVA NV1 clearance.
Start: July/August 2025
Location: Melbourne CBD (on-site)
Roles Available:
- Combat Systems Integration Engineer (6 m): Deliver combat system designs using systems engineering, Conduct technical investigations and resolve issues, integrate combat systems with platform elements, Prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Design Engineer (6 m): Broad technical design of naval ship systems. Apply marine/Naval/class standards, manage Engineering Change (EC) tasks, 3D modelling to CAD, investigate issues, and deliver technical reports.
- Naval Architect (6 m): Lead naval architecture and outfit design: arrangements, stability, performance, fit-out specs, fluid/ventilation systems, and shock-resistant design.
- V&V Engineer (4 m): Develop V&V test plans/OQE capture strategies, author inspection/test procedures, support Test Readiness Reviews, coordinate tests across stakeholders, act as Test Witness, document findings, and support system commissioning under WHSE guidelines.
Candidates' backgrounds:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering field
- Proven experience in naval ship systems, within a Defence context
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role e.g.
- Combat Systems - Design and integration experience
- Desing Engineer - CAD/3D modelling
- Naval Architect - Maritime platform design and structural analysis
- V&V Engineer - test planning, stakeholder coordination, and technical documentation skills
