ABOUT THIS ROLE

Working along side an experienced Project manager, this Assistant Project Manager role will allow you to understudy and grow in your trade. You will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the performance management framework of a project, ensuring that it remains on budget, on target and on time. A keen eye for detail will be required, as will an understanding of risk management, earned value and work breakdown structures (specifically DEF AUST 5664A)

You will be relied upon to use your problem solving techniques to provide solutions to a variety of problems. This is a great role that will allow you demonstrate your professional work ethic while preparing customer meetings, planning agendas and capturing vital information to assist the Project manager in his duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a complete and accurate set of project records using Microsoft Project or similar program
  • Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Coordinate meetings with key clients and staff
  • Assist in the preparation of project resourcing and assist in the evaluation criteria
  • Provide support on the coordination, action and modification of subcontracts
  • Conduct formal engagements with suppliers
  • Provide status updates on subcontracts capability
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement
  • Develop solutions to problems and contribute to business development initiatives
  • Collaborate with functional support staff and assist the leadership team in maintaining the project scope and schedule

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Knowledge of DEF (AUST) 5664A Work Breakdown Structures is a must
  • Relevant certifications and professional membership is desirable
  • Experience in Risk Management is highly regarded
  • Knowledge and understanding of Earned Value Management and Management Frameworks
  • Prior experience working within an engineering or project environment (preferably within the defence industry) would be greatly beneficial
  • MS Project or Open Planned Professional
  • Communication and interpersonal skills are a must
  • NV1 Security Clearance or the capacity to gain one is required
