Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a full time permanent basis, located in Scoresby, VIC.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer works closely with the project and functional stakeholders to deliver, manage and ensure proper technical delivery of programs. The role is critical to development and test of mechanical systems that support their products and systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer shall ensure these systems meet strict performance, safety, and compliance standards through detailed analysis, integration and validation.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and working collaboratively with other teams as required, the successful candidate shall ensure reliable, maintainable, and mission-ready capability in accordance with the programs and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical engineering design, development and analysis tasks for complex systems and equipment for their projects, as directed.
  • Design solutions (parts, assemblies and installations) in 3D CAD using tools such as SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare 2D drawings in accordance with AS1100 or ASME Y14.500M standards.
  • Prepare Engineering reports, trade studies and design documentation with objective engineering evidence.
  • Undertake risk assessments and safety analysis for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Work with electrical, communications and systems engineers to provide holistic engineering services in a consultative environment.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (recognised by Engineers Australia)
  • 10+ years' experience in defence and related industry
  • CAD experience in SolidWorks
  • Experience with vehicle design and ideally design for mine blast
  • Australian full drivers license
  • Must hold an NV1 clearance
