We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer - Navaids (Navigational Aids) to join an industry leader based out of the Sydney facility. You will lead the charge on ground-based aircraft navigation equipment that will directly influence Defence Aerospace Capabilities. In this role you will report to the Project Manager for all related technical matters, project operations and contractual matters.

The successful applicant will act as the subject matter expect for Navaids and be responsible for providing technical leadership to the overall engineering team during the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the system design and customer co-ordination of Navaids deployments
  • Author and/or approve engineering documentation such as Specifications, Requirements
  • Write Reliability, Safety and Test Plans/Reports
  • Manage Verification and Validation
  • Manage technical compliance of key sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Resolve engineering issues from initial design through approval and implementation
  • Conduct acceptance testing
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Navaids
  • Manage all technical aspects relating to Engineering procedures
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop, manage and maintain currency of the Systems Engineering Management Plan

Required experience:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in System Engineering or relevant field
  • 10 years' industry experience
  • Understand and have applied skills in ground-based aircraft navigation equipment
  • Ability to lead an engineering team
  • High level communication both written and verbal
  • Negotiation skills and ability to maintain a level of patience to assure resolution of issues and assure customer satisfaction

Applicants must hold Australian Citizenship and be eligible for a Defence security clearance.

Due to the nature of this project applicants must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
