System Administrator

Contract: Now - EOFY + 12-month extension extremely likely
Location: Canberra (on-site)

We're looking for a System Administrator to support a Defence environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining secure, stable, and high-performing infrastructure across systems, networks, and virtual platforms.

What you'll be doing

• Maintain and support Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 8 environments
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
• Support VMware & Hyper-V virtual environments
• Administer Veeam backups and support disaster recovery activities
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco networks and FortiGate firewalls
• Support LAN/WAN/VPN infrastructure with a focus on uptime and security
• Monitor systems, apply patches, and optimise performance
• Automate tasks using PowerShell and Bash
• Provide Tier 2/3 support and contribute to documentation
• Work with stakeholders and vendors across incidents and change processes

What you'll bring

• 5+ years' experience in Systems Administration
• Strong Windows and/or Linux (RHEL) background
• Hands-on experience with virtualisation, backup, and networking technologies
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and VPNs
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
