Job Description

After spending many years obtaining your degree and having completed that first gig, why not make the most of it by joining a leader in IT & communications systems for control centres within safety critical environments.

We currently have a position available for a Software Engineer competent in Voice communications to be based in Melbourne.

This role will allow you to work with mission critical software systems used in Air Traffic Control Operations (civil and military air traffic control, air defence).

This is an exciting assignment that will not only allow you to lead the pack in state-of-the-art technology in Australia, but also provide you with the opportunity to learn and progress your expertise at one of the company's overseas facilities for the first 4-8 weeks of your employment.

The Role:

  • Perform requirements analysis
  • Establish technical knowledge of existing products and processes
  • Technical knowledge: Java, Linux, Shell, Web applications, virtualisation
  • System installation, deployment, configuration and integration
  • Testing and error identification during integration of software into customer environment
  • Creation of technical documentation for systems and their interfaces
  • Acceptance of internal and external deliverables for assigned work packages
  • Support of system tests on site with the customer
  • Maintain customer contact in relation to technical matters

Experience required:

  • Relevant engineering degree in Engineering, Software, or Information Technology
  • Experience with the following technologies/products: Red Hat, VMWare, Apache, RabbitMQ, Jama, Jira
  • Technical knowledge: Java, Linux, Shell, Web applications, virtualisation
  • Experience with Communication and Voice systems
  • Minimum of 2- 3 years' experience in software development
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work directly with the customer and end users during test execution and training delivery
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Well organised and able to work to deadlines, under pressure
  • Ability to undertake travel nationally and occasionally internationally
  • Australian Citizen - eligible for a Security clearance
