Supporting veterans beyond uniform
Kinexus supports veterans transitioning from service into civilian careers. Many of our team are ex-ADF, so we understand the shift from uniform to industry in practical terms, not just on paper.
Leaving the ADF is rarely about capability. It's about translation. The language changes. The systems change. Expectations change. Your experience doesn't lose its value, but it often needs to be reframed.
We help translate service experience into civilian roles where leadership, technical skill, discipline and judgement are recognised and understood.
For us, a successful veteran transition isn't just about landing a job. It's about finding work that fits your skills, values and stage of life — and building a civilian career that is stable, purposeful and sustainable.
Making sense of civilian careers
We support veterans transitioning to civilian jobs to:
Identify transferable skills and realistic civilian career pathways
Translate Defence roles, ranks and service experience into civilian language
Understand industry expectations, workplace culture and hiring processes
Navigate contracting versus permanent work
Understand how security clearance status affects job options
Recognise where Defence and platform experience is most valued in industry
Position service history clearly and appropriately for civilian employers
This isn't about starting again. It's about repositioning what you already bring so it makes sense in the civilian workforce.
Many veterans hold current or reinstatable security clearances, have lived platform experience and a strong connection to the purpose of Defence and national security work. These factors can open doors across defence industry, ICT and engineering programs — and give you a genuine advantage over candidates without that background.

Veterans and transitioning ADF members We support Army, Navy and Air Force personnel as they move into civilian careers across defence industry, ICT, engineering and project environments. Whether you are in the early stages of planning your transition or ready to move now, we work with you to identify the right pathways and opportunities for your background and goals.
Veterans we work with commonly move into roles across:
Engineering and technical disciplines
ICT and cyber security
Project and program management
Logistics and sustainment
Business analysis and support roles
Commercial and corporate functions

Employers hiring veterans We work with organisations that value service experience and want to build veteran-inclusive teams. Veterans bring a distinctive combination of leadership, technical discipline, security clearance eligibility and lived experience in complex, high-stakes environments — qualities that are genuinely hard to find and highly valued across defence industry, ICT and engineering programs.
We help employers identify where veteran experience fits, how to support successful transitions into civilian roles, and how to build teams that retain and develop the talent they bring in. If you are looking to strengthen your workforce with people who bring purpose, discipline and real-world experience, we can help you find them.
Already cleared?
Make the most of it.
Many veterans leave service holding an active Australian Government security clearance — one of the most valuable assets you can bring to a civilian career in defence industry, ICT or national security programs.
If your clearance is current, reinstatable or needs to be upgraded for a specific role, Kinexus can help you understand your options and connect you with opportunities where that clearance is genuinely required — not just preferred.
As a DISP member, we also provide security clearance sponsorship for eligible candidates where a role requires a clearance that isn't yet held.
CERTIFIED VETERAN FRIENDLY EMPLOYER
Kinexus is a Certified Veteran Friendly Employer — a recognition that reflects how we operate, not just a badge we display.
For veterans working with us, this means you are dealing with a team that has been independently assessed on how we support, recruit and retain veterans in the workforce. It means our processes, culture and approach have been evaluated against a standard that goes beyond good intentions.
For employers working with us to build veteran-inclusive teams, it means we understand what genuine veteran inclusion looks like in practice — and can help you build the same standard into your own hiring and retention processes.
A team that understands service life
Many of our consultants have served in the Australian Defence Force. That lived experience shapes how we work with veterans — from the way we read a service record to the way we have conversations about transition.
We don't need you to translate your experience for us. We already understand the ranks, the roles, the environments and the culture. Our job is to help you translate it for the civilian employers who don't.
