ABOUT THIS ROLE
Business Analysts review processes, identify data/information management gaps and support the business area to identify technical solutions that will enhance data collection and management. They support development of policy and governance requirements to establish clear measures that enable delivery on leadership requirements and ensure commonwealth funds are appropriately managed/allocated.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the execution of business process improvements. Analyses and designs business processes to identify alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness and exploit new technologies and automation. If you have any further requirements or desired attributes.
- Develops graphical models of business processes to facilitate understanding and decision-making. Assesses the feasibility of business process changes and recommends alternative approaches.
- Identify, tailor and implements methods and tools for improving business processes and data collection.
- Adopts holistic view to identify and analyse problems and opportunities.
- Perform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of reports, identifying information collection gaps and project milestones.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrated 3 - 5 years' experience in Business Analysis or aligned tertiary Specialisation.
- Demonstrated experience in Business Analysis investigating business situations where there is some complexity and ambiguity. Adopts holistic view to identify and analyse problems and opportunities. Contributes to the selection of the approach and techniques to be used for business situation analysis. Conducts root cause analysis and identifies recommendations for improvements. Engages and collaborates with operational stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing the execution of business process improvements. Analyses and designs business processes to identify alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness and exploit new technologies and automation. Develops graphical models of business processes to facilitate understanding and decision-making. Assesses the feasibility of business process changes and recommends alternative approaches. Selects, tailors and implements methods and tools for improving business processes at programme, project or team level. Contributes to the definition of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for business process improvement.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking feasibility assessments. Supports option identification and feasibility assessment. Selects and employs standard techniques to get the information required for feasibility assessment. Supports identification of tangible costs and benefits, and development of business cases.
- Demonstrated experience with data modelling. Applies standard data modelling and design techniques based upon a detailed understanding of requirements. Establishes, modifies and maintains data structures and associated components. Communicates the details of data structures and associated components to others.
- Demonstrated experience with requirements definition and management. Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity. Contributes to selecting the requirements approach. Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements. Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
- Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential
Desirable criteria
- Bachelors or higher degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics or aligned tertiary specialisation.
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder relationship management.
- Demonstrated experience with user experience analysis.
- Expertise in Excel (including Power Query) and BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).
