We're partnering with a Defence organisation seeking a Senior Communications Engineer to join their acquisition and integration team. This role offers the opportunity to work across some of Australia's most advanced communications and electronic warfare programs, supporting the delivery of critical Defence capability across multiple domains.

About the Role

You'll lead the design, integration, and verification of RF communications systems, focusing on technologies including C-Band, VLF, AEHF, and BLOS. This role plays a key part in systems engineering, change management, and ensuring interoperability across complex Defence systems.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll collaborate with internal engineering teams, Defence stakeholders, and industry partners to ensure technical excellence and mission readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, integration, and configuration of advanced RF communications systems
  • Support system change management and upgrade activities for Defence programs
  • Conduct systems integration, verification, and validation (V&V) to ensure design integrity
  • Perform RF link budget analysis, waveform design, and propagation modelling
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, test plans, and integration reports
  • Ensure compliance with Allied Quality Assurance Publication (AQAP) standards and Defence frameworks
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Engage with Defence clients and partners to ensure alignment with project objectives

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Systems Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Proven experience within Defence communications, RF systems, or secure networks
  • Strong understanding of C-Band, VLF, AEHF, and BLOS communications
  • Practical experience in systems integration, change management, and V&V
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Eligible for or holding an NV1 security clearance

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge/experience with Allied Quality Assurance Publication (AQAP) standards
  • Exposure to sovereign systems, strategic-level communications, and space communications
  • Familiarity with modelling, simulation, and architecture design tools (MATLAB, HFSS, CST, etc.)
