We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager with a NV1 security clearance to help shape and build a large Maritime Defence project. This varied role is essential to the success of the business. A background in Defence is essential as well as a positive attitude and the flexibility to take on tasks that may be outside of your job description.


  • Plan, develop, integrate, manage, and evaluate projects and engineering management systems
  • Investigate and expose risk, analyse, and report on engineering issues, requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice
  • Be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex engineering and project work within an integrated workforce using in-depth knowledge of and in accordance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements
  • Plan, lead, and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes
  • Develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators, and review individual, team, and business performance, focusing on identifying opportunities for building team capability and continuous improvement
  • Lead and manage the Project Office Engineering Team, through planning and delivering critical, complex, and very complex engineering and project activities and provide advice in all relevant engineering disciplines and management systems under broad direction
  • Provide clear and consistent communication, set clear performance and behavioural standards, and manage performance, delegate responsibilities
  • Be accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and Technical Regulatory Authority delegations
  • Motivate and mentor developing engineers


  • Related Tertiary Qualification
  • Previous experience supporting large and complex maritime acquisition and sustainment projects
  • Thorough understanding of engineering disciplines
  • Hold or have the ability to maintain a NV1 security clearance
