About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading Defence engineering organisation, is seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting a significant naval program. This is a rare leadership opportunity within one of the country's most complex and strategically important maritime environments.
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the governance, assurance and delivery of engineering activities across a major ship platform, ensuring adherence to Defence standards, seaworthiness requirements and enterprise engineering processes.
We are seeking a proven technical leader and someone who thrives in complex environments, brings structure to ambiguity, and can build strong collaborative relationships across Defence and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled engineering team delivering complex sustainment activities.
- Oversee engineering governance, compliance and assurance against Defence standards and seaworthiness requirements.
- Act as the primary technical advisor for customer and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage engineering schedules, deliverables, reporting and performance reviews.
- Drive work planning, resourcing, and continuous improvement across engineering operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across Defence and industry partners.
- Promote a strong WHS and safety-first culture
About You
- Degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture.
- 10+ years' engineering experience in ship design, ship repair or complex maritime projects.
- Proven leadership experience within Defence programs.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and technical advisory skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Deep knowledge of relevant engineering standards and Defence regulatory frameworks.
- Eligible for Baseline or higher security clearance (NV1/NV2 preferred).
