Our large federal government client is seeking a Financial Analyst who will be responsible for the design, analysis and delivery of relevant, trusted and objective statistics and data-related insights. You will manage, coordinate and respond to the finance requests and organisational Directives at the Branch and Division level ensuring alignment between a Project Office and the wider organisational Program/Portfolio and Finance functions.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise that contribute to business unit outcomes.
- Have sound understanding of the impact of the work area on longer-term strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency/program.
- Work independently or under limited guidance nominated supervisor.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive customer outcomes.
- Support programs with financial management and procurement activities including resource and budget planning.
- Track financial progress of projects by conducting monthly reviews of financial expenditure, budget reporting, forecasting analysis including accrual reporting.
- Create reports, modelling, and trend forecasting including financial reporting.
- Conduct statistical and financial modelling, including project accounting & cost estimation.
- Invoice processing, purchase orders and maintaining financial journals.
- General administration and organisational tasks within Defence's Desktop Environments.
- Respond to stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Support internal and external networks.
Technical skills
- Bachelor of Accounting.
- Candidates working towards their CA, CPA or equivalent, with requisite accounting experience would be highly regarded.
Location: This role is based in Canberra, ACT and on site.
Contract Terms: The initial contract is for 12 months, with the potential 2 X 12-month extensions.
Security Requirements: Be an Australian Citizen and holding a current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance or higher.
