Position: Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems for defence simulation technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet the highest engineering standards, comply with defence regulations, and perform reliably in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment including testing and integration, installing and managing the mechanical systems and equipment
  • Derive mechanical system requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and system requirements reviews
  • Undertake functional analysis to identify the optimum solution against a set of requirements and develop system specifications
  • Develop optimised mechanical system detail designs and present in design reviews
  • Perform the integration and validation of complex mechanical system designs with challenging physical and functional properties
  • Undertake the full qualification of complex mechanical system products including devising solutions to complex qualification problems
  • Ensure all documents and artefacts generated by the team are completed and managed in accordance with appropriate standard procedures and work instructions

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in defence, aerospace, or heavy industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA); experience with FEA and CFD tools.
  • Understanding of defence engineering principles, MIL-specs, and ASDEFCON requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing innovative mechanical solutions.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 or higher preferred).
