The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to join their cyber and software engineering team supporting key national defence programs. You will work closely with local and global cybersecurity specialists to ensure the security, resilience and accreditation of complex ICT and military systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, test, and secure ICT systems, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing required controls.
- Perform threat modelling and develop mitigation strategies for new and existing systems.
- Assess and recommend new cybersecurity and ICT tools to uplift capability.
- Lead initiatives to enhance ICT security and compliance through automation and policy updates.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, security plans, and lead ICT accreditation activities.
- Engage directly with end customers to communicate solutions and build stakeholder confidence.
- Mentor team members on cybersecurity design, standards and compliance.
About You
- Degree in Engineering, Software/ICT, Computer Science or similar.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, networking).
- Understanding of PSPF, DSPF, ISM and security accreditation requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux/Android OS, VMs, network servers, security hardening and scripting.
- Experience in ICT technical support and/or ICT security.
- Previous exposure to DevSecOps.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance; existing NV1 or above.

- Knowledge of systems and software engineering environments.
- Product Development experience.
- Understanding of tools supporting engineering design and development.
