Security Officer Associate
Requirements:
- Must be an Australian Citizen, located in Australia.
- Background check completed prior to hiring.
- Top Secret Negative Vetted (NV2) Clearance.
Role Type:
- Part-time position (20 hours per week).
Responsibilities:
Manage the relationship between the organisation and the Department of Defence DISP teams.
Conduct background checks for potential hires and existing associates undergoing the Federal government clearance process, including:
- Cleared candidate screening, ID/credential verification.
- Initiating pre-hire background checks and ensuring candidates pass all required checks.
- Confirming candidates are not listed on Australia's "Consolidated List" (individuals and groups subject to Australia's terrorist asset freezing regime).
Conduct background checks for existing associates under the following circumstances:
- Associates looking to change security levels.
- As required by customers prior to Professional Services engagements.
Maintain records of completed checks, including the date and the name of the Employee/Supplier who conducted the check.
- Retain copies of criminal background requests and declarations.
Funds Management:
- Manage cost centres related to background checks.
- Handle invoices for AGSVA for new clearances, upgrades, and renewals.
Monitor and implement standards, policies, and any changes imposed by the Department of Defence for the DISP.
Develop and maintain a risk management process that informs screening policies and DISP procedures.
- Identify potential risks and guide the development of mitigation strategies, including management of Official and/or Sensitive Defence Material.
Ensure data protection of personal information (PI) in compliance with Australian privacy legislation.
Collaborate with the Australian Government Chief Security Officer on risks and DISP management.
Respond to requests to sponsor a candidate's security clearance if required.
Assist in managing staff responsibilities related to security clearance and risk management.
Conduct interviews related to security clearance screening.
Collaborate with internal teams to identify strategies to mitigate insider threats.
Manage the Annual Security Training process for personnel in high-risk roles.
Assist in reporting security incidents and fraud incidents internally and to the Department of Defence as required.
Conduct security audits and complete DISP Annual Reports.
Manage associates' government clearances with the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
Oversee the site allowance process for cleared associates.
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for cleared associates.
Handle security incidents internally and report to Defence as required.
Audit associate clearance sponsorships and maintain records for clearance holders.
Provide security briefings to all new hires with sponsored clearances.
Brief associates who are planning overseas travel and hold security clearances.
