Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with a strong background in Defence naval projects to join their acquisition team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the change management of naval platforms, overseeing systems integration, verification and validation (V&V), and leading the design and configuration efforts.
Several positions available across Sydney and Canberra.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, integration, and configuration of naval systems to meet project requirements and specifications.
- Support the change management process for naval platforms, ensuring all modifications are effectively planned, documented, and implemented.
- Oversee systems integration activities, ensuring seamless interoperability of various subsystems within the naval platform.
- Conduct verification and validation (V&V) activities to ensure systems meet design specifications and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence clients, to ensure alignment and successful execution of project objectives.
- Develop and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and integration reports.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential issues in system design and integration.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Defence standards and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting professional growth and development within the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1. (mandatory).
- Extensive experience in Defence naval projects, with a focus on naval acquisition.
- Proven experience in change management, systems integration, and V&V within naval platforms.
- Strong understanding of Defence standards and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in systems, electrical, or mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an engineering environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience with naval systems design and configuration.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Modelling and simulation experience.
