About the Opportunity
We're partnering with a leading Australian Defence engineering organisation delivering major maritime programs. They are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with an active NV1 clearance to lead systems engineering activities across complex naval design and integration projects.
In this senior engineering role, you'll work closely with Design Leads, Project Managers and Design Authorities to transform system concepts into validated, compliant and production-ready solutions. You'll play a critical part in guiding engineering direction, ensuring technical rigour, and upholding quality and safety across the full systems engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering across multi-disciplinary Defence engineering teams
- Manage requirements, traceability, configuration control and V&V activities
- Provide technical authority through review and approval of engineering artefacts
- Ensure solutions meet Defence standards, regulatory requirements and customer specifications
- Champion robust systems engineering methods and safe design principles
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical capability growth
- Build effective relationships with Defence stakeholders, primes and engineering partners
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development of engineering processes
What You Bring
- Degree-qualified engineer in a relevant discipline
- Eligible for Baseline or higher security clearance (NV1 preferred)
- 5+ years' experience leading engineering teams (ideally within Defence or maritime)
- Strong technical capability across the systems engineering lifecycle
- Ability to interpret, review and validate complex engineering documentation
- Experience with Defence engineering standards and acquisition frameworks
- Background in maritime engineering, naval systems or naval architecture is highly desirable
