We are partnering with multiple Defence suppliers delivering next-generation autonomous systems across Maritime and Air platforms. These organisations support complex, safety-critical programs for the ADF and allied customers and are expanding their software engineering capability.

We are seeking Back-End and Full Stack Software Engineers to contribute to the design, development, and sustainment of distributed software systems that underpin autonomous and mission-critical platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain back-end and full stack software solutions for autonomous systems
  • Contribute to system architecture, APIs, and data flows supporting real-time and near-real-time operations
  • Work across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, verification, deployment, sustainment)
  • Integrate software with sensors, control systems, simulation environments, and external interfaces
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, embedded engineers, and test teams in multidisciplinary environments
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation aligned to Defence and safety-critical standards
  • Support software assurance, verification, and configuration management activities

Skills & Experience

  • Professional experience as a Back-End or Full Stack Software Engineer
  • Experience with a range of modern technologies, including some of the following:
    • Back-end: Java, C++, Python, C#, Go, Rust
    • Front-end: React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript, HTML/CSS
    • APIs & services: REST, gRPC, microservices architectures
    • Databases: SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
  • Experience working on complex, distributed, or safety-critical systems
  • Exposure to Defence, aerospace, maritime, robotics, or autonomous systems environments is highly regarded
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in structured engineering environments
