Defence & Intelligence IT Infrastructure Programs

Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Systems Engineers and Network Engineers to support a large, long-term Defence program delivering secure ICT capability for Australian Intelligence organisations. This role focuses on the build, sustainment, and optimisation of highly classified systems operating in controlled environments.
You will work on mission-critical infrastructure supporting intelligence operations, ensuring systems are secure, resilient, and compliant with Defence and Intelligence security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, administer, and support Windows and Linux server environments
- Manage virtualised platforms (VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent)
- Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Support identity, access, and privileged account management
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and new capability rollout
- Maintain detailed technical documentation and as-built designs
- Support incident, change, and problem management in classified environments
- Operate in compliance with PSPF, ISMF, and DISP requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator
- Proven experience with:
- Windows Server and/or Enterprise Linux
- Virtualisation technologies
- Backup, recovery, and system monitoring
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and support secure LAN/WAN environments
- Administer enterprise routing and switching platforms
- Configure and manage firewalls and network security controls
- Support network segmentation, secure enclaves, and boundary protection
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security events
- Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configurations
- Ensure compliance with Defence and Intelligence security frameworks
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of:
- TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting
- Enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.)
- Firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco)
- Experience supporting secure or regulated networks
- Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills
