This role would suit applicants who are strong systems engineers, who have come from a software / integration background.
Software Systems Engineer - Defence (Sydney)
Are you an experienced software / systems engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge defence technology? Our client, a leading defence contractor in Sydney, is seeking Software Systems Engineers to join their innovative team.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of complex software systems for various defence projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, project managers, and stakeholders from the Australian Defence Force.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements analysis and review - gathering and documenting requirements from various stakeholders
- Review software for mission-critical defence systems, adhering to strict security and quality standards.
- Analyse complex requirements creating a comprehensive and structured requirements specification document
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to testing and deployment - managing the process as a systems engineer
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
- Document software designs, architectures, and processes for future reference and maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Baseline or NV1 security clearance mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems /software development, preferably in the defence or aerospace industry.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience with real-time systems, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.
- Understanding of software security principles and experience with secure coding practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a relevant security clearance.
