RFQ-ASD-LH-03787 Test Engineer

Due to the nature of clients we work with here at Kinexus and the projects these roles will be based on, an Australian Government Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance is essential.

These opportunities do not have the ability to obtain sponsorship for a security clearance (including applicants who currently hold a security clearance seeking to upgrade).

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Test Analysts (Test Engineer) determine and then carry out testing activities to validate the design and behaviour of systems and services.

The Test Engineer under broad direction from the Commonwealth will be responsible for a range of activities contributing to the test and operation of ICT systems and network infrastructure services to support the delivery of modern mobility solutions for senior government officials. Project activities under the project include expanding the existing network infrastructure, computing systems, desktop delivery solutions, complex gateway services, cloud services, and secure mobility solutions.

Working arrangements: Onsite. WFH cannot be accommodated. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. Candidates required to have PV clearance.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop plans and procedures in the verification of ICT infrastructure (physical and virtual) solutions.
  • Execute testing processes and activities in the verification of solutions against relevant standards.
  • Follow all documented change control process requirements to implement changes in the test environment.
  • Manage the testing and reporting of network infrastructure, including firewalls, gateways and other network communication devices.
  • Manage and track testing of non-functional requirements (load, performance, reliability, and compliance).
  • Develop reports and acceptance documentation for testing lifecycle of network and platform evolution.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Essential criteria

  • Australian Citizenship and a TSPV security clearance is essential
  • Business intelligence: BINT Level 4 (SFIA) Supports business intelligence needs of specific management or governance processes or operational areas. Investigates the need for business intelligence reporting and analysis where there is some complexity and ambiguity. Selects and applies non-standard business intelligence tools and techniques to provide insights and aid decisionmaking. Selects, acquires and integrates data for analysis. Identifies opportunities to digitise and streamline operational data handling and optimise business intelligence capabilities.
  • Methods and tools: METL Level 5 (SFIA) Provides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards. Contributes to organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools. Implements methods and tools at programme, project and team levels including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.
  • Programming/software development: PROG Level 4 (SFIA) Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services. Contributes to the selection of the software development methods, tools and techniques. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve well engineered outcomes. Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
  • Testing: TEST Level 5 (SFIA) Plans and drives testing activities across all stages and iterations of product, systems and service development. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Adopts and adapts appropriate testing methods, automated tools and techniques to solve problems in tools and testing approaches. Measures and monitors applications of standards for testing. Assesses risks and takes preventative action. Identifies improvements and contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing.
