Our client is seeking multiple security cleared Commercial Officers to join their team on a permanent basis across multiple locations in Australia.

The Commercial Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and uninterrupted delivery of goods and services by managing procurement transactions, coordinating supplier engagement, processing payments and supporting a wide range of commercial activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys meaningful work, values accuracy and accountability and is keen to contribute to an essential national program.

We have opportunities in the following locations: Canberra, Cairns, Brisbane, Perth, Darwin and Sydney.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Purchasing support:
  • Purchase Order creation and administration within ERP systems
  • Source and review supplier quotes to support value-for-money assessments
  • Prepare procurement artefacts such as Section 23 approvals and Endorsements to Proceed
  • Develop Survey and Quote documentation in accordance with ASDEFCON-aligned frameworks
Contract & Commercial Administration:
  • Support in-service support contract management and general contract administration
  • Monitor deliverables, contractor communication and contract record-keeping
  • Assist with contract variations, extensions and compliance documentation
Financial & Budgeting Support:
  • Contribute to procurement plan updates and financial tracking activities
  • Provide support to budgeting, reconciliation and financial governance
  • Monitor and manage stale commitments, ensuring issues are identified early and escalated appropriately
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Relevant qualifications in Procurement, Commerce, Business, Contract Management, Finance or related discipline.
  • SAP ERP experience is essential (ideally gained within defence or a similarly structured, compliance-driven environment)
  • Demonstrated experience in Defence commercial and contract management
  • Strong understanding of governance, documentation standards, ASDEFCON-aligned procurement and Commonwealth procurement compliance
  • Excellent written communication, analytical capability and stakeholder engagement
  • MUST hold a current defence Baseline or NV1 security clearance
