About the Role:
We're partnering with a highly respected Defence SME at the forefront of complex systems development, to recruit an experienced Security & Facilities Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments and is confident navigating Defence security frameworks.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a broad and autonomous role overseeing protective security, export controls, DISP compliance, and facilities management - with a direct line to the Managing Director and Executive team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the organisation's defence security strategy, policies, and compliance under DISP, DSPF, PSPF, and ISM.
- Manage all security governance activities, including physical, personnel, ICT, and information security.
- Maintain and secure classified zones, facilities, and networks in collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g., ISSO, COO).
- Oversee ITAR/export control compliance, security risk assessments, and secure material handling.
- Interface with Defence agencies (AGSVA, DSA, DFAT) on clearances, visitor access, travel, and facility security.
- Support bids and project execution from a security and facilities standpoint.
- Coordinate internal security training and audits and maintain security documentation.
- Manage and support facility maintenance and infrastructure changes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in a Defence or Defence Industry environment.
- In-depth knowledge of DISP, security frameworks, and defence project environments.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives.
- Strong understanding of ITAR, export controls, and classified material handling.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- NV1 clearance, and willingness to upgrade to NV2 if required.
- Technical background or tertiary qualifications highly regarded.
