As a partner with some of the strongest Defence companies in Australia, we are seeking a Technical Service Manager to be based in Newcastle. The role is critical to the maintenance and repairs, improvements and management of communications, surveillance and RADAR systems for defence aerospace platforms.

The successful applicant will work within a dynamic team and an industry leader in the Defence Sector. This is a key role within the team that will encompass a wide range of responsibilities. You will be involved in support of the Program Manager for technical advice and liaise directly with the customer.

The Role:

  • Investigate, resolve, diagnose and document parts (defect reports, incident reports etc)
  • Exercise Technical Authority and with a level of delegation
  • Undertake Technical inspections and provide advice
  • Undertake quality assurance as required
  • Provide technical support to mission-critical & controlled items
  • Support workshop planning, coordination and operations
  • Ensure QA standards AS/NZS9001, 9001 and 14001 are adhered
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in the resolution of technical issues

Requirements:

  • Technical qualifications in Electronics or Electrical
  • Excellent working knowledge in technical and engineering standards
  • Highly experienced in the technical inspection of parts
  • Experience with Navigation, RADAR, SONAR and or RF technology
  • Good communication skills
  • Experienced in making improvements to processes and procedures
  • Experience in setting up and application of testing equipment
  • Applicants MUST be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship)

This role is a critical position within the organisation that requires a mature self-starter, to manage a team of specialists to conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
