Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Officer based in Brisbane, offering the opportunity to lead commercial activities and contribute to key Defence procurement and sustainment projects.

As the Commercial Officer, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with procurement legislation, maintaining schedules, and aligning financial and commercial processes with engineering and sustainment resources. Your expertise will drive efficient service delivery and sustainment of high-end UAS technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and guide a team, setting clear performance standards, delegating responsibilities, and fostering professional development.
  • Act as the primary authority for commercial and contract governance
  • Translate commercial and contractual terms that are understood, communicated, and adhered to across delivery and functional teams.
  • During bid and proposal activities, by providing commercial and contractual input
  • Manage and administer commercial and contract change variations
  • Offer training and guidance to team members on commercial and procurement processes, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Diploma-level qualifications or higher in contract management, commercial law, financial management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management
  • Must have good knowledge of contract management within a technical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to set performance standards and promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain positive relationships across organisations.
  • Previous experience working within a delivery organisation

Candidates will have a good level of experience in compliance and risk management. They will understand how to accurately execute contract variations and changes in accordance with the approved process and delegations. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding and confidence in internal and external contract management and governance. They will understand the accuracy required in executing those variations and ensure that audits are compliant with contract governance and or administration.
