Our client, based in Canberra, is seeking candidates who have either transitioned out of full-time service or are seeking to transition to reserves, O3 or O4. Candidates should either hold a degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline. Candidates will have experience working within a Systems Program Office, Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), or a similar Defence capability and sustainment environment.
Candidates will understand future requirements and how quantum capabilities may impact how Defence acquires and sustains high-end ICT, Battle Communications technology, how requirements are shaped, and how defence engages with the broader Defence industry. You may have a background in software development, communications systems, or networked defence environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with Defence stakeholders, including CASG and Systems Program Offices, to identify capability gaps where quantum technologies may offer a strategic advantage
- Support business development activity by translating complex quantum computing concepts into defence-relevant outcomes
- Contribute to the strategic positioning of the company's quantum technology portfolio against Australia's evolving threat environment
- Build and maintain relationships across the Defence enterprise to support long-term growth
What You'll Bring
- Prior ADF service at officer level, ideally Lieutenant or Captain
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field
- Experience in or exposure to CASG, Systems Program Offices, or capability development and sustainment roles
- Understanding of how emerging technologies integrate into Defence's capability lifecycle
- Established networks within the Defence community
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A current AGSVA issued security clearance
This is not a role for a quantum physicist. This is a role for someone who understands how transformative technologies like quantum computing will reshape Australia's defence capability, and who has the networks and credibility within Defence to help bridge that gap.
Quantum computing is one of the most significant emerging technologies in the defence and national security space. This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of that shift, your Defence experience to bear in a company that is helping shape Australia's future strategic capability.
All applications should include your resume as a word document.
