Our federal government client requires a Network Engineer to support a number of capability elements in Defence projects. This role has both design and implementation components, and the engineer will also plan infrastructure refreshes or upgrades and assist in the installation and configuration of equipment.
These are 12-month contracts with 2 x 12-month extension options.
This role is based in Canberra (ACT).

Key duties and responsibilities:
- Produces outline system designs and specifications, and overall architectures, topologies, configuration databases and design documentation of networks and networking technology within the organisation. Specifies user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. Assesses associated risks, and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. Translates logical designs into physical designs.
- Lead and provide guidance on developing new capabilities within existing WAN environments.
- Takes responsibility for the development of network architectures for upgraded capabilities to ensure it meets business requirements.
- Produces detailed design, configuration, implementation, and support documentation. Manages reviews of the benefits and value of other designs and integration challenges and recommends improvements.
- Contribute to and support leadership efforts to improve capabilities across multiple network domains. Using network management tools diagnose and resolve system and environment problems. Document the analysis of problem patterns and performance trends.
- Identify system interdependencies and liaise with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
- Provide guidance and direction to an integrated team to meet the prioritised schedule of work.
- Establish and foster productive working relationships by working cohesively and flexibly with the developer team, the broader program team, key business partners and stakeholder groups.
- Develop a schedule of work and report on progress.
- Demonstrated knowledge of networking architecture and topologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current networking technologies and solutions in classified environments.
