We are currently working with our client to identify a Trade Compliance Specialist to be based in Canberra. The role is working with a very dynamic team of experienced people on numerous projects in the defence space. The role requires a dynamic individual that has the drive and tenacity to work through complex and often difficult compliance activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to not only join a great team but to also help build it. As the Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for drafting and collaborating with senior leaders to help build policy and guidelines as well as overseeing all import and export activities Australia wide.

The Role:

  • Act as primary contact for Trade Compliance issues and enquiries
  • Conduct internal investigations of any aspect of a proposed export or temporary export
  • Address import and export issues in existing programs/new programs
  • Implement trade compliance manual and provide training in the ITAR/EAR procedures
  • Conduct internal trade compliance audits of export and import activities
  • Conduct internal compliance and general import/export awareness training
  • Manage the Australian trade compliance team

Experience Required:

  • A track record in working with global trade laws and regulations
  • A working knowledge of Defence Export Controls (DEC) Act and Defence Strategic Goods List materials
  • Experience in preparing export license applications
  • A good knowledge of classifying products under the ITAR and EAR
  • Should have familiarity with Queensland and interstate explosives and weapons licensing
  • Applicants MUST hold an AGSVA issued Security Clearance
