Job Title: Director
Team: Management
One thing you bring to your role:
Hiring great people and helping them make the most of their opportunity at Kinexus.
What is the best thing about working in the recruitment industry?
I’ve managed to navigate three decades in recruitment across both the UK and Australia. Initially as a contract recruitment consultant, then an internal recruiter for a tech giant before starting Kinexus in 2001 – an idea hatched on Manly Beach. The most exciting part of being part of this industry is the central role we play in supporting companies and individuals to connect and grow.
What's your top tip for setting into a new role?
Look for the “white space” and solve the problems that no one else wants to solve. Look for opportunities to apply discretionary effort because it gets noticed!
If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Be awake – watch re-runs of historic cricket games.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
I would go diving more – I learnt to dive with my kids which was special. I would also buy a much faster motorbike and probably do myself more harm than good.
What fictional place would you most like to go?
Hobbiton and then Mordor – by Uber.
Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
90s Brit Pop, Fleetwood Mac.
What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?
Ring someone instead of texting….
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation?
Indian Food and Accompanying wines.
What’s worth spending more on to get the best?
Everything!
