Job Title: Recruitment Consultant - Naval

Industry: Defence - Naval

Year joined Kinexus: 2022

What do you actually do?

If I were explaining it to a mate at the pub, I’d say I help defence industry companies find engineers, technical specialists and project leaders who are genuinely hard to hire, especially people with security clearances. My job is= making sure the right people end up on critical Defence programs across the naval and engineering space.

What kinds of roles, industries or skill sets do you work across?

I focus on recruiting engineering and technical professionals within the defence sector, particularly across the naval domain. Most of the roles I work on sit within engineering, technical delivery, and program leadership.

Roles I commonly recruit:

  • Project & Program Managers

  • Engineering Managers

  • Systems Engineers

  • Naval Sea Combat Planning Officers

  • Naval Architects

  • Design Engineers

  • Systems Safety Engineers

  • Combat Systems Engineers

  • Communications / RF / SATCOM Engineers & Technicians

  • ILS Engineers

  • Electrical Engineers & Technicians

  • Mechanical Engineers & Technicians

  • Electronics Technicians

  • Marine Technicians

I also regularly recruit security-cleared professionals, typically Baseline, NV1, NV2 and TSPV.

What do your clients rely on you for?

Clients tend to come to me when roles are hard to fill or when they need someone who understands how the Defence ecosystem actually works. I spend a lot of time building relationships in the engineering and technical community, so when the usual job ads aren’t working, I can often reach people who aren’t actively looking but are the right fit for the program.

How did you get here?

After my time in the army and completing university, I wasn’t sure of where to go and what to do. All I knew is I wanted to work in a place where I can use my Defence and civilian experience in the same space.

Something people might not know?

I am a pop-punk kid at heart, and this is a “phase” I don’t think I’ll ever get out of.
